Melody's first tooth!

Melody felt her wiggly tooth, she tried to pull it out because it felt strange. She got a tissue, wiggled it back and forth and pulled it out! As blood streamed down her chin, she was very excited about it all. Unfortunately, Melody had bad dreams about the tooth fairy. She saw millions of tiny sparkles in her room and thought the tooth fairy was there to take her tooth even though she had written instructions not to. Malcolm's first tooth had to be extracted due to an abscess, which happened when he was six as well. Here are some pictures of the milestone. untitled-4.jpg untitled-3.jpg untitled-2.jpg untitled-1.jpg

Melody's Birthday

We celebrated Melody's 6th birthday this past weekend. We had a Michael's party making arts and crafts followed by dinner at Boston Pizza. Melody and her friends had a great time decorating a photo frame, christmas ornaments and gingerbread cookies. The next night, the family went to see Frozen on Ice. Here are some pictures from the birthday. untitled-1.jpg untitled-10.jpg untitled-3.jpg untitled-2.jpg untitled-4.jpg untitled-7.jpg

Catching up.

Sports Day was a big success. Last year Malcolm missed Sports Day because of the Teacher's Strike. This year's theme was minute to win it, with various events focussing on small, but difficult tasks. I believe Red Team won this year. As you can see from the pictures Malcolm was Team Green and Melody was Team Yellow. Fun was had by all. untitled-11.jpg untitled-12.jpg untitled-10.jpg untitled-6.jpg untitled-2.jpg untitled-1.jpg The end of the baseball season was a good one for Malcolm. The decision to let him play another year of Rookies was a good one. He's improved his attitude, throwing and catching. Next year will be interesting to see if he can keep up to the other kids. I suspect he'll be fine, especially with some additional reinforcement over the summer, fall, and winter.

Happy Birthday Melody.

"The years go by fast, but the days are long". This is something that Roger firmly believes in. Sometimes everyday can be a struggle when you're dealing with raising kids. These days the kids push each-other to the limit. Roger and Tracey often think about instituting the 'get-along' shirt. It's funny cause when they do get along, they're the best of friends, but other times we're not so sure. Roger and Tracey would probably say that sibling rivalry is the single most stressful and volatile issue in the house. If they could eliminate that, most days would be stress-free and peaceful. Let's hope for the sake of their parent's sanity, they grow out of it soon.

So preparations are in place for setting up for the big birthday party tonight. Melody is having a 'Frozen' party. The decorations are set, food is being prepared, and the guests will start arriving this evening for a fun filled night of yummy food and a screening of the movie.

Kindergarten step 1.

Melody was excited to go to the Kindergarten orientation all week. With the strike action in effect, she was lucky it wasn't cancelled. Tracey and Roger were both able to go with her. Having both Malcolm and Melody at the same school is going to be interesting come fall. Again, it all started fine, but when it was time to sit on the mat with the other kids Melody decided she didn't want to be alone. She wanted Mommy to sit next to her. Being one of the youngest kids in the group can't be easy. She's actually going to still be four in September, just like her brother was two years ago. Malcolm took a while to transition, let's hope that Melody does well. Here are some pictures from her orientation. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Melody's Birthday

Our little girl turned four years old last week and she couldn't have been more pleasant. We had a princess party on the weekend with many princes and princesses in attendance. Roger and Tracey brought in their friend Jenny to paint some faces as well (Melody absolutely loves facepainting). It's certainly a milestone to remember for Miss Melody. It's a big transition from being three to four, this time next year she would have already finished 3 months of kindergarten! I guess the biggest relief has been potty training success. Despite Roger's reservations of Melody actually being able to do it, she's been very, very successful. That's not to say it wasn't a stubborn transition, but now we're in a good place. Every kid is different and we can certainly see that comparing both kids. Now on to Christmas. untitled-3.jpg 20131124-DSC_9093

Summer 2013

Melody has had some real great strides with potty training as of late. She's been pretty reliable throughout the day with a lot of success. We just hope that it continues, she's been quite a stubborn monkey in general, but again we have to really focus on the successes. Last night she even woke up in the middle of the night to go pee. The summer time activities continue. We're looking forward to spending a little time away next week. We're heading down south to San Diego. Unfortunately, I won't be joining the family. They have a bunch of activities planned, I'm sure that the weather will be great. The kids are really looking forward to it. Here are some pictures from the weekend: DSC_8813 - 2013-07-13 at 14-30-02 DSC_8851 - 2013-07-13 at 18-30-58 DSC_8924 - 2013-07-14 at 12-54-05 DSC_8930 - 2013-07-14 at 13-10-42 DSC_8933 - 2013-07-14 at 13-11-03 DSC_8937 - 2013-07-14 at 13-16-03 P.S. Congratulations to uncle Lane and auntie Jen with their wonderful arrival. We can't wait to meet Gavin one day soon.
